An original Remington Portable No. 1 Typewriter with folding keys and original case. This typewriter features strikers that fold flat into the body and rise by turning a knob. The keys are nickle with black letters on a yellow background. This typewriter is very clean and has been fully refurbished. It has smooth typing and the carriage advances and functions very well. The ribbon is light and will need changing. The case is original and has some wear on the leather handle but is structurally sound. Serial number: NP44050

E. Remington and Sons (1816–1896) was a manufacturer of firearms and typewriters. Founded in 1816 but on March 1, 1873, it became known for manufacturing the first commercial typewriter.
