An antique Royal "P" portable typewriter. Very rare in two tone high gloss black and maroon. The keys are nickle and glass with white background and black letters. This typewriter has smooth typing and the carriage moves properly. New ribbon. It has retained its original finish with minor blemishes. Some flaking of finish on the top left. Serial #P108429.

HISTORY

The Royal Typewriter Company was founded by Edward B. Hess and Lewis C. Myers in January 1904 in a machine shop in Brooklyn, New York. The advertising and marketing in the 1930s for this model stated "Designed for children, housewives and letter writers."
