This is a 1950s Eames fiberglass shell chair in the one of the original colors Light Grey with the Herman Miller stamp underneath and visible fiberglass fibers throughout. This iconic chair is mounted on a newer Herman Miller Walnut dowel base. (Replacements of the bases are common.) All four of the shock mounts have recently been replaced on each chair.

- CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor chips in the front of both chairs.

HISTORY
The Eames Fiberglass Side Chair was introduced in 1951, a year after the original "shell" chair with arms was offered for sale. The back and seat of these chairs are made of a single piece of molded fiberglass contoured to the shape of the human body.
