ABOUT

Original early 1920's industrial domestic science class laboratory table with student's name etched into the front drawers. Comprised of solid Birch wood. This stationary table consists of a solid Birch top with four drawers along the length. The lower cabinet contains recessed paneling along the sides and four larger drawers. Each row of drawers retains the original unadorned angled front brass drawer pulls.

  • CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Missing swing out seats. Wear to two front drawers. Missing six brass locks.

HISTORY

The E.H. Sheldon Company began in 1912 with the design of a woodworking bench and the Rapid Acting Woodworker’s Vice. The company grew rapidly and made laboratory furniture for hospitals and the federal government. By the 1950s the company was making laboratory furniture for schools in the science, homemaking, and arts areas.
