Camp Shanks, located in Orangeburg, NY, was the largest World War II US Army embarkation camp on the East Coast, famously nicknamed "Last Stop USA." Millions of soldiers passed through it before deploying to Europe. This piece honors the base's internal fire department and tracks monthly efficiency or equipment designations across various fire engines (Engine 8, 9, and 10) during the height of the war effort.
