A set of six original solid Oak library chairs with four blue and two green vinyl back rests. Refinished in an oil and paste wax.

  • MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Solid Oak, Vinyl.
  • CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Some scratches on the seats denoted in photos. Minor wear on the vinyl on all chairs. One green chair has a small blemish in front. Four are missing the circular brass Gunlocke logo insert on the inner leg.
  • DIMENSIONS H 31.5 in. W 17.75 in. D 17.5 in. Seat Height 18 in.

HISTORY

The W.H. Gunlocke Chair Company was founded in 1902 by William H. Gunlocke and four other furnitureexperts in Wayland, New York. Inititally, the companywas designed to manufacture seats for houses, lounges and libraries, but later expanded to include seating for offices as well.
