Mid-century Bronze and Brass Inlay Indian Chess Set c.1960
This is an original chess set and stand made in India with solid bronze and solid brass chess pieces. The chess board is aluminum and inlaid brass with rosettes on the sides and felt on the bottom. This piece has retained its original finish and has the appropriate patina.

- CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damage on the board and six missing rosettes on the sides.

Designed by New York native, Lee Bernay, who worked in India in the 1960s. Lee designed and produced intricate chess boards of birds, owls and figures such as this item. Each chess board was different with highly enameled and silver pieces and boards.
