Antique Art Deco Royal Portable Typewriter c.1935
An antique Art Deco Royal portable typewriter in black with chrome ring. Original case with Bakelite handle. New ribbon installed. Original manual included. The keys are nickle and glass with black and gold letters. This typewriter has smooth typing and the carriage moves properly. It has retained its original finish with minor blemishes. Serial # A-797180.

The Royal Typewriter Company was founded by Edward B. Hess and Lewis C. Myers in January 1904 in a machine shop in Brooklyn, New York. The advertising and marketing in the 1930s for this model stated "Designed for children, housewives and letter writers."
