A 19th century wood, steel and canvas small cabin trunk or travel chest with large brass lock. This compact size was specifically designed to fit under a passenger's bunk or in the cabin of a steamship or train for quick access during travel. Owner's initials on the each side. Original maker's label inside. "1887" hand written inside.
Perfect size for a side table or nightstand.
