HISTORY

Introduced in 1908, the Sprague-Thompson Parisian metro was the first metro built with metal instead of wood. It only had five cars including 1st class and 2nd class—and it was classified as a historical monument in 1998. These types of metros ran till 1983, when they were replaced by more modern versions.
