Early 20th c. Swiss Army Cowhide/Leather Backpack c.1945
ABOUT
This is an original Swiss Army cowhide and leather backpack lined with fabric on the inside. The backpack has leather straps and buckles on the top, bottom, outside and inside. A wooden dowel runs through the leather on the top. There is a pouch on the outside, one on the inside and the large interior space. Two thick leather cushions are on the piece to protect your lower back and an accessory hook in next to them. The maker's name, profession, location and date "45" are stamped in between the cushions. This piece has retained its original finish with minimal wear to the cowhide and leather.

HISTORY
The bag was made in 1945 by O. Muller, a company or person in Uetikon, Switzerland. Sattler is the name for an old, traditional profession. Sattler’s make fabric and leather products for equestrianism, carriages and cars. After a three year of apprenticeship, you can still become Sattler today.
