World War 2 Era 48 Star American Flag, in a nice displayable 5 feet x 9 1/2 feet. The flag body is of multi-piece construction, with each stripe a separate piece of fabric. It looks to be made of cotton or linen bunting, with a heavy canvas header bearing sturdy steel eyelets on the top and bottom secured by 3 brass rivets each. The stars are separate pieces of cotton, sewn onto both sides of the blue canton. Over the size the flag header is marked with "Philadelphia Q.M. Depot."

HISTORY

The Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot has a long history of manufacturing official U.S. military flags, unit colors, and presidential standards dating back to its origins as the Schuylkill Arsenal in 1799.
