This is an original photograph of a U.S. Navy battalion. The large black and white photo has printed on the bottom of the photo "Company 836-44 Regiment 1-Battalion 1-U.S. NAVAL TRAINING CENTER-Farragut, Idaho-F. Brown C.Sp. Co. Cmdr-Sept. 28, 1944" The photograph is in its original frame with black trim and retains its color and sharpness with the appropriate patina given the age.

HISTORY

Farragut Naval Training Station was a U.S. Navy training center during World War ll in the western United States. It was located in Northern Idaho. The base was named after David Farragut (1801–1870), the first admiral in the U.S. Navy and the leading naval officer during the Civil War. The site became Farragut State Park 52 years ago in 1966.
