This is an original Corona 3 Flip Top Typewriter with original gold lettering label and nickel and glass keys. Designed smaller to be portable, the top flips over and converts to a  square.. This typewriter is in good working order and the ribbon is new. A patent date of "July 10, 1917" is on the back. This piece has retained its original finish and has the appropriate patina for the age and use.

HISTORY

Considered the first "laptop", the Corona 3 Portable Typewriter was invented in 1912. Ernest Hemingway loved his, so did Teddy Roosevelt. It was the most popular model of typewriter ever made—selling over 700,000 in 30 years. The Corona Typewriter Company of Groton, New York marketed the Corona III as “the personal writing machine.”
