Rare Duotone Red Royal "P" Portable Typewriter c.1931

ABOUT

A rare antique Royal "P" portable typewriter in duotone red with gull wing ribbon covers. The keys are nickle and glass with white background and black letters. The labels on the rear of the machine are crisp and all in-tact. This typewriter has smooth typing and the carriage moves properly. New ribbon installed. Original metal ribbon spools included. It has retained its original finish with minor blemishes. Serial #P276057.

HISTORY

The Royal Typewriter Company was founded by Edward B. Hess and Lewis C. Myers in January 1904 in a machine shop in Brooklyn, New York. The advertising and marketing in the 1930s for this model stated "Designed for children, housewives and letter writers."
