This is an original U.S. Navy 1st class Construction Mechanic (CM) wooden tool box used to hold small precision, machinist's tools. The toolbox is stenciled in yellow with the mechanic's name, "Ed Barry, CM 1/c USN" and a blue and red anchor on the front and a red star on the back. The leather handle is wrapped on both ends with maritime knots and a brass bracket. The toolbox has metal corners. This toolbox has retained its original finish with vivid colors and has the appropriate patina consistent with age and use.
